edition ((sharie johnson)) > the battle is on. thank you for joining us i'm sharie johnson. there's less than 48 hours until nevada's republican caucus. tonight... presidential hopefuls are in town trying to win over support. twists and turns up until now... will likely have even more eyes on tuesday's turnout. mauricio marin is live from texas station where senator marco rubio just got done rallying up supporters. ((mauricio marin)) more than a- thousand people came out to show their support for senator marco rubio tonight. he's not alone though...ted cruz has been made his way all around southern nevada asking for people to back him up. tonight---rubio told the crowd he's ready to lead change. ((mauricio marin)) rubio and cruz are both fighting against donald trump to be the republican's choice for president. senator rubio stressed his local roots in nevada saying his dad found work here after hard times in florida. rubio says he'd fight to build a stronger military, defend the second amendment right and fight for a limited federal government. ted cruz also on the campaign trail in southern nevada. stopping off in pahrump where he encountered a heckler. cool start with temps near 50 degrees and by the ride home it is going to be a warm one. but coming up in a few minutes, i am tracking a brief and i mean brief cool change and it is in your full forecast. those details in about 10 minutes. and rememeber, we've always got your covered on, sharie."> ((sharie johnson)) > investigators are looking into two suspected drunk driving collisions. one killed a bicyclist... and the other critically injured a pedestrian. the first happened around 1:30 this morning... on saint rose parkway near the i-15. n-h-p says the 59-year-old bicyclist... had all the right safety gear on at the time of the crash. including a reflective vest and flashlights but investigators say that wasn't enough to prevent the driver of an off-road vehicle... from hitting the bicyclist and killing him. nhp suspects the driver of the atv was drunk. enough to not drive impaired. get that designated driver. especially in an instance like this, he's in an off-road vehicle. no reason for this vehicle to be on our streets. )) ((sharie johnson)) in the second crash which happened just about 30 minutes later... metro says another suspected drunk driver hit a pedestrian near maryland parkway and charleston. police say the driver took off but witnesses followed the driver. and were able to keep track of him until investigators arrived on scene. the victim was rushed to the hospital with broken bones and head trauma. it is believed that the pedestrian was jaywalking. /// ((sharie johnson)) > metro police are investigating... after a body was found at the d hotel overnight. police say the call came in... a little after two this morning... homicide detectives were on scene... but investigators say it's not considered a murrder investigation at this point. police have not said where the body was found or how that person may have died./// ((sharie johnson)) > police say the man who went on a killing

news, this is 8 newsnow, weekend edition ((sharie johnson)) > a michigan man is in custody - accused of carrying out a series of random shootings that killed six people and injured two. c-b-s reporter kenneth craig reports from kalamazoo... where people are gathering together to mourn. music and prayer brought hundreds of grieving kalamazoo residents together sunday night at a church service to honor the victims killed in a deadly shooting rampage. (pastor brian stone/jesus loves kalamazoo) "this kind of tragedy happens in california, or in new york city, or overseas. it doesn't happen here." authorities say 45-year-old jason dalton's spree allegedly

a woman around 6pm saturday night outside an apartment complex. four hours later, a father and son were killed at this car dealership. then investigators say dalton killed 4 women at a roadside restaurant. a 14 year girl was seriously injured. investigators say the women were in two cars here in the cracker barrel parking lot. authorities are still searching for a motive. cbs news confirmed dalton was working as an uber driver and passed the company's background check. matt mellen says he was dalton's passenger less than 2 hours before the rampage. (matt mellen/ suspect's passenger) "we were driving through medians, driving through the lawn, speeding along and finally once he came to a stop, i jumped out of the car and ran away" mellen's fiance posted on facebook to warn other passengers to stay away. authorities believe dalton would have continued his shooting spree, if he weren't stopped. kenneth craig, cbs news, kalamazoo michigan ((sharie johnson)) police say

least 3 deaths in the southern pacific country of fiji. tropical storm winston is the strongest system on record in the region. the storm hit this weekend with wind speeds of up to 177 miles per hour, destroying hundreds of homes and shredding crops. officials say two people died when the house they were sheltering in collapsed on them. another man also was killed... but it wasn't clear how. and police are still investigating reports of two more deaths. the government there has declared a national state of disaster... effective for the next 30 days. /// toss to tony for weather ((tony smith)) < ((tony smith, 8 news now)) " expect the dry and warm weather conditions into

((demetria obilor)) >this week, work began on tropicana avenue. most of the work is happning between eastern and mcleod, and it's all part of ndot's tropicana improvement project. they will improve four miles of tropicana between eastern and boulder highway.

eastern and mcleod are expected to last through early april. the entire project won't be completed until october. moving up into the northwest now, where we've got some interesting stuff happening. this is lone mountain at 215, where the county is working to build out the northwest segment of the beltway between craig and hualapai. that means the annoying lights at ann and lone mountain will be removed. crews are currently working to build bridges in the area and transform gravel pits into stormwater detention basins. good news for the southwest, a new light was turned on at warm springs and tenaya.

((sharie johnson)) > rapper "50 cent" will have to explain his instagram pictures to a bankruptcy judge. he filed for bankruptcy last year, but later posted pictures of himself with piles of cash. one photo shows him with stacks of 100- dollar bills that could easily add up to 50-thousand dollars. a judge told his attorneys this week he must come to court and explain that. friday, the rapper's legal team said he would show up...but when is unclear. the rapper, whose real name is curtis jackson, says he's been driven into bankruptcy by lawsuits... with claims adding up to 29-million dollars. /// ((sharie johnson)) > "deadpool"
